Heat Advisory for Much of the Crossroads This Afternoon

Upper level high pressure continues it grip over the Crossroads late today, resulting in summer like searing heat and stifling humidity. A heat advisory remains in effect over much of the area for heat indices in excess of 110 degrees. Overnight lows will only reach around 80 degrees while the mercury soars to the upper 90s in the afternoons. No significant rainfall is expected until the upper ridges shifts position to the eastern Gulf of Mexico, allowing a series of disturbances to bring isolated to scattered thunderstorms Saturday through Tuesday. The best chance for substantial rainfall will be from late Monday through late Tuesday, when more than two inches of rain may occur. Highs will remain in the middle to upper 90s, with lows from the upper 70s to around 80.
