Local cowgirl to compete in Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Katie Jo Boyd-Halbert will compete for the first time at the 2022 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Finishing 31st in the world last year in barrel racing and second in the Rookie of the Year standings, Boyd-Halbert now qualifies to compete in Fort Worth, San Antonio, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Lighthouse Beach Fishing Pier ceremony will mark project completion

Thursday, the city of Port Lavaca will officially mark completion of the Lighthouse Beach Pier project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. at the head of the pier.

Train depot facelift continues

Work on the Train Depot is underway by Barefoot Construction. Supply chain delays have slowed work. The windows may not come in until March, said Interim City Manager Jody Weaver.
