HALLETTSVILLLE, Texas —  Our Athlete of the Week this week is Hallettsville softball player Emily Migl.  She pitched a no hitter in their district rivalry game against Columbus, recording eight strikeouts. The Lady Brahmas went on to shut them out 11-0.

Columbus has been our competition for many years for Hallettsville, said Migl. To be able to come out and do that is just a dream come true for me.

Migl started playing softball at the age of eight and has been on multiple select teams. She said her favorite pitch to throw is her curveball or changeup. She knows the influence she has on the underclassmen.

I think a lot of them look up to me and one of our sophomore pitchers is going to be the big dog next year after I’m gone.

That pitcher is none other than former Athlete of the Week Kailey Olivera who will be a junior next year. Migl enjoys her time with all her teammates. Migl’s favorite food is mashed potatoes and enjoys her wildlife class. Next year, she will attend Wharton College where she will study radiology. For her final year with the Lady Brahmas, she has one goal in mind.

To be a senior and take it all the way to Austin with my girls is just a dream.
