Hallettsville ISD closes all schools due to flu outbreak

HALLETTSVILLE, Texas- On the advice of doctors at Lavaca Medical Center, Hallettsville ISD Superintendent, Jo Ann Bludau, made the decision to close all schools in Hallettsville after multiple students were treated for flu and flu-like symptoms. As of right now all schools are scheduled to be open Wednesday Jan 22nd. If that changes, parents and students will be notified.

The following statement was posted to the Hallettsville ISD Facebook page on January 18th.

“Attention HISD parents:

Due to the recent flu outbreak at Hallettsville ISD, school will be cancelled on Monday, Jan 20. Maintenance and Transportation staff will use this time to disinfect classrooms and buses. Please wash your child’s backpack and jacket before returning to school. If they can’t be washed, please spray with a disinfecting spray like Lysol or use Clorox and steam.”
