UPDATED: Hallettsville football game canceled due to COVID-19

One student tested positive while another was sent home with symptoms of COVID-19

HALLETTSVILLE, Texas — Tonight’s Hallettsville football home district opener against Hempstead is canceled due to COVID-19. According to Hallettsville head coach Tommy Psencik, one student tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and they had another who went home with symptoms on Thursday. After Hallettsville revealed to Hempstead the information about the COVID-19 tests, it was decided that the game would be canceled and not rescheduled in the future. This could hinder whether or not either of these teams will make the play-offs this year due to missing a district game.
