East girls basketball, looking to get back on the district winning track Tuesday night.
I was at East as the Titan girls hosted Calhoun. Titans in white. Leilani Wimbish-Gay, pullup jumper for two. Last seconds first half, Leilani with the rejection. East holds Calhoun to just seven first half points. Titan girls improve to 7-2 in district with a 42-20 win. Susie Hernandez leads East with 13 points, ten for Zakari Perry. Friday night, East girls basketball continues district play in Corpus Christi against Ray.

West girls basketball loses in Corpus Christi Tuesday night at Carroll, 49-44, to fall to 7-2 in district.
Kennedy Youngblood leads the Warriors with 22 points.
East boys basketball loses in district play at Calhoun, 66-50.
Titan boys now 2-5 in district.

West boys fall to 0-7 in district after losing in Corpus at Carroll, 73-55. Kevin Rankin led the Warriors with 25 points, 12 for Dedtric Jones.

Edna girls basketball falls to 3-3 in district after losing at Hallettsville, 51-49.

I was at the St. Joe Dome for a meeting of state ranked teams. The Flyers, fifth in TAPPS 5A, hosting Antonian, third in TAPPS 6A. Flyers in white, last seconds, third quarter. Ed Clay beats the buzzer for two of his 13 points. Flyers down six after three. Now to the fourth, D’Ary Patton, trey, bien. he had 15 points. Quincy Johnson, trey, bien. he tied KeAon Griffin for high point honors with 16. But the Flyers lose for the first time this season, 77-63. St. Joe boys basketball, now 20-1 for the season, opens district play Saturday night at Corpus IWA.

Ariana Jacques competing for West in the 110 pound weight class, going up against Dominique Perea of Miller. Jacques earning the victory for the Warriors. Then, Jeremy Gonzalez of East getting the pin against Moody’s Israel Gomez for a win. Gonzalez, in the 132 pound weight class. East boys beat Miller, 31-30, but lose to Moody, 30-29. East girls lose to Miller, 34-12, and to Moody, 13-12. West boys beat Miller, 36-30, but lose to Moody, 36-28. West girls beat Miller, 30-0, but lose to Moody, 30-24. Saturday, VISD wrestlers compete in San Antonio at a tournament at Lee high school.
