H.S. Basketball Scores
Here are Thursday night’s area high school basketball finals. At the CCISD tourney, after they lost to Moody, 53-51, with 15 points from Robert Mejia, the West boys got their first win of the season 69-39 over the Ray JV. Mejia led the Warriors with 14 points, 12 from Jordan Fillmore. They next play at the tourney at Ray Friday at 10:00 a.m. against Laredo Martin. East girls split a pair at the Buda Hays tournament. After they lost to Dripping Springs, 55-27,
with Kanesha Morris scoring 10 points, the titan girls win big over san marcos, 65-31. East led by Susie Hernandez and Imani Wimbish-Gay with 11 points apiece, 10 apiece for Leilani Wimbish-Gay and Andrea Jackson. The East girls next play there against Bastrop at 11;30 a.m. Friday. St. Joe boys win twice at the Bloomington tournament to stay unbeaten at 6-0. After the Flyers beat Austwell-Tivoli, 87-63, they downed Sacred Heart, 60-28 to improve to 6-0. Gary Villarreal led St. Joe with 20 points. The Flyers play Edna in the tourney twice Friday, first at 8:30 a.m., then at 2:00 p.m. St. Joe girls split two games at the Industrial tournament. After beating Bishop, 50-31, the Lady Flyers lost in OT to the host team, 32-27. Alisa Novosad totalled 48 points in the two games for the Lady Flyers. Their next game in the tourney comes Friday at 9:00 a.m. vs. Hallettsville. Edna girls win twice at the Brazos tournament.
After beating Schulenburg, 52-45, with Kirstie Soto scoring 17 points, the Cowgirls improved to 10-1 by beating the host team, 34-18. Bailey Cavasos led Edna with nine points. At the Rockport tournament, Goliad girls lose to Flour Bluff, 41-37. Roxanne Morris led the Tigerettes with 19 points.
