West Girls Make History
Victoria, Texas — Here are Tuesday night’s area high school basketball playoff results.
St. Joe boys basketball’s season ends in the TAPPS 5A area playoffs. The second ranked Flyers, losing to Westbury Christian, 62-60, at the St. Joe Dome. St. Joe, winding up with a 29-2 record, got 17 points from Ed Clay, 15 from Quincy Johnson, 14 from KeAon Griffin.
West girls basketball, making the 5A regional finals for only the second time ever and for the first time since 2014. The Warrior girls, beating 19th ranked Flour Bluff, 50-48 in overtime in Sinton. 19 points for Jozelyn Washington, 12 for our Athlete Of The Week, Carrie Barrera-Lacy. Win number 36 for the Warrior girls this season. The Warrior girls will face Kerrville Tivy in the regional semifinals Friday night at 8:00 at Littleton Gymnasium in San Antonio.
5A Boys bi-district in Kingsville, and Calhoun loses to Laredo Martin, 90-59. Calhoun loses to end the season with a record of 13-14. 4A girls regional hoops quarterfinal in Smithville, El Campo loses to Burnet, 67-43.. El Campo girls’ season comes to an end, but not before the Lady Birds pick up 32 wins on the season.
