GVEC energy audit scam

Dewitt County Office of Emergency Management and Sheriff’s Office are warning GVEC customers about an ongoing scam.

Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative issued a warning over the weekend about scammers going door to door posing as GVEC employees offering energy audits.

Spokesperson for Dewitt County Office of Emergency Management Cindy Smith says as the holidays approach scams increase, so its important to be aware.

No GVEC representative will ever visit a home for an audit without calling before hand.

Smith warns that any suspicious person should be reported to police.

Every GVEC employee has identification and you can always call the company directly to verify if a person actually is with GVEC.

Never allow strangers to enter your home.
