Gulf Bend Center establishes hotline for COVID-19 stress

VICTORIA, Texas – The Gulf Bend Center’s mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families by providing care for wellness.

The center’s COVID-19 hotline is part of the Texans Recovering Together Crisis Counseling Program, which provides information, educational resources and emotional support.

Bethaney Myers, learning and development coordinator at the mental health center, said it’s easy to feel alone with social distancing measures in place.

“It’s there to be that support for those struggling with anything related to mental health,” Myers said.

The Gulf Bend Center continues to provide its regular services, some with modifications due to social distancing.

Myers said the center can also help people get connected to other mental health resources in the area and that are covered by your insurance provider.

“We are here, we need to connect now more than ever,” Myers said.

If no one answers, be sure to leave a voicemail and if you do need help over the weekend or after hours of the local hotline, the statewide service is reachable at 833-986-1919.

The local COVID hotline set up through the Gulf Bend Center is reachable at 361-220-6735. Operation hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Go here to learn more.
