Grass Fire on Thomaston River Road

Nearly 50 acres were burned this afternoon off Highway 87 on Thomaston River Road in Cuero. The fire reportedly started just after 1:00 pm. According to Emergency Management of De Witt County, welders were working in the area creating sparks and those sparks started the grass fire.

The blaze has since been put out. Cuero Volunteer Fire, Thomaston Fire Department, Texas A&M Forest Service, and Meyersville Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
