Grant awarded to Sheriff’s Office to help housing costs
The grant will help with the cost of housing criminal undocumented persons
VICTORIA, Texas- The Victoria County Sheriff’s Office has received a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance State Criminal program. The grant, between $7000-$8000, will help with the cost of housing criminal undocumented persons. Specific criteria must be met to qualify for the grant.
“[It’s] certainly a big expense for a lot of local governments, and again this is a small pot of money that helps us pay for some of those expenses incarcerating these folks,” says Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller.
