Gov. Abbott orders U.S. flag and Texas flag to fly at half-staff in honor of Mayor McCoy

Victoria County Judge Zeller made the request this morning

VICTORIA, Texas- The U.S. flag and Texas flag are flying at half-staff in Victoria to honor Mayor Rawley McCoy.

Under the U.S. Flag Code and the Texas Government Code, U.S. and Texas flags can only be lowered to half-staff by order of the President or the Governor. Saturday morning Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller submitted a request to Governor Abbott that he order the United States and Texas flags in Victoria County to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the life and public service of Victoria Mayor Rawley McCoy.

Governor Abbott approved the request. The U.S. flag and the Texas flag may be lowered immediately and returned to full-staff on Friday, March 12th.
