Goliad Shooting Update: Names of suspect and victim in Sunday shooting released
The Goliad County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the victim and suspect involved in a Sunday afternoon shooting on FM 2441. The victim is identified as Troy Eric Peuttus, 42 of Goliad.
Peuttus suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of the head and remains hospitalized at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
The suspect has been identified as Adan “Adam” Briseno, 44 of Goliad. He remains in the Goliad County Jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
At around 5:40pm Sunday, Goliad County Deputies responded to reports of a shooting victim in a black pickup truck on FM 2441. Deputies and DPS troopers found Peuttus in the truck with a wound to the left side of the head. He appeared to have been shot with a small-caliber weapon.
Peuttus was taken to BAMC by air ambulance. Further investigation revealed the shooting occurred at a ranch in the 16000 block of FM 2441 near the Bee County line. It was determined that Peuttus had gone to that location to confront Briseno over an ongoing personal dispute. Briseno armed himself with a pistol and fired multiple shots at the victim while the victim was seated in his pickup truck parked in front of the residence.
One shot penetrated the windshield and struck the victim in the head. Peuttus, who remained conscious, left the scene and drove approximately eight miles toward Goliad where he pulled off the road and waited for help.
In addition to Peuttus, there were three other individuals in Peuttus’ truck, including one juvenile. None of the other truck occupants were injured and their names are not being released at this time. Investigating deputies located and arrested Briseno at his residence. He was taken into custody without incident.
