Goliad Sheriff’s Office adds new decal to patrol cars
Over the next several weeks, Goliad residents may notice the phrase “In God We Trust” popping up on Goliad Sheriff’s patrol vehicles.
The phrase, reflecting the national motto, is being added to new vehicles as they are put into service, and on existing vehicles as their markings are updated.
“In God We Trust” was approved as the nation’s official motto by the 84th Congress in 1956.
The law was signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 30, 1956. That same day, President Eisenhower signed into law a requirement that “In God We Trust” be printed on all US currency and coins.
