We were able to speak with the victim’s family after the verdict was read. “We still have mixed emotions at this time and we don’t want to elaborate at this time. Were just glad that this is coming to an end for our family and we can close this chapter and go on. We want to thank the jury and the DA for the verdict all of the DA’s hard work and we just feel blessed and relieved.” Said Lucy Garcia
After the verdict was read Gutierrez was taken into custody by the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office. Tomorrow the jury will return for the sentencing phase of the trial, where they will decide Gutierrez’s punishment. The sentencing phase of the trial will begin at 9 a.m.
