Goliad Football Gets New Head Coach

Salazar Promoted From Defensive Coordinator

Goliad football gets a new head coach.

At the Goliad ISD board meeting Monday night, the board voted to promote defensive coordinator Kevin Salazar to head coach. Salazar, the defensive coordinator for the Tigers the past six seasons, is a Goliad High School graduate. He succeeds Bobby Nicholson, who was re-assigned two days before Christmas after the Tigers posted a 1-9 record. Goliad ISD interim superintendent Donald Egg told me that Salazar “knows the coaches and knows the kids.” Egg tells me there were six finalists for the job and 44 applications for the position.
