Goliad Deputies arrest man after car chase
A Port Lavaca man is in jail facing multiple charges after attempting to run down two Goliad County Deputies.
30-year-old Michael Shefcik remains in jail on charges of resisting arrest, evading an officer, failure to identify, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The chase occurred Tuesday morning, after the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a car appeared to have driven into a fence.
Responding deputies located a Chevy pickup truck occupied by a male, who then attempted to use the truck to run down the two deputies.
A deputy fired two shots from his weapon at the truck’s left front tire in an effort to disable the vehicle.
Deputies pursued the truck just across the Refugio county line, where the suspect drove through a fence and bailed out on foot when he was caught by the deputies.
