Generals walk off Cane Cutters to finish regular season
VICTORIA, Texas — In the span of an inning, the Generals turned what could have been one of their more disappointing losses of the season to one of their best wins.
The Generals walked off the Cane Cutters, 9-8 on Friday at Riverside in their regular season finale. They squandered an early 6-0 lead — falling behind 8-7 in the top of the ninth inning — before plating two in the bottom of the frame to finish the season on a high note.
Justin Barr proved to be the big hero for the Generals, roping a walk off single to left field that scored Zac Vooletich and gave the team their 34th win of the season. With the win, the Generals will officially travel to Texarkana to take on the Twins in their first round playoff series this weekend.
Game one between the Generals and Twins will take place Saturday in Texarkana, before the two teams return to Riverside for game two, and if necessary, game three. The Generals own home field advantage in the series.
