Generals Soon To Get Texas Longhorns Pitcher

The Generals played in Lafayette, Louisiana Monday night. The Generals get the 10-8 win.
Once the Texas Longhorns are through in the College World Series, one of their players will join the generals.
Chris Fearon, a righthanded pitcher from Spring, will join the Generals in a few days. Generals GM Mike Yokum told me he activated Fearon for the team’s roster on Monday. Fearon, a junior and former pitcher at Kansas, is 1-0 this season with a 10.38 ERA. Generals head coach Michael Oros played at Sam Houston State under David Pierce, who’s now the Longhorns’ head coach. I asked coach Oros if he stays in touch with his old coach. “We talk a lot. His first year as a head coach was my senior year and he did right by me. I really enjoyed learning from him and I actually coached a year as a graduate assistant there after I was done playing. When they moved on to Tulane and Texas we’ve kept in touch. That’s where our connection that got us a player from Tulane and we have some Texas guys coming in later this summer. We’re just trying to build off what he taught me and to get them going for the next year at Texas.”

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – The NCAA has postponed the North Carolina-Mississippi State game at the College World Series until Tuesday morning.

The elimination game between Oregon State and Washington on Monday was interrupted for 4 hours, 31 minutes in the sixth inning because of storms in the Omaha area. A threat of more rain Monday night, plus the possibility of a late start time, led the NCAA to reschedule North Carolina-Mississippi State.

Three games are now set for Tuesday. Texas will play Florida in an elimination game in the afternoon, and Arkansas faces Texas Tech in a Bracket 2 winners’ game at night.
