Generals return to action Wednesday after four straight cancellations
VICTORIA, Texas — Sunny skies are forecast for the rest of the week in Victoria, and that’s more than fine with the Generals.
Following four consecutive games canceled due to severe weather around the Gulf, the Generals will finally return to the field on Wednesday when they host the Twins at Riverside. The team’s weekend road series in Baton Rouge had previously been rained out due to Tropical Storm Barry, followed by two more cancellations in Texarkana on Monday and Tuesday.
Despite the schedule chaos, general manager Mike Yokum knows the team hasn’t been alone.
“The Texas Collegiate League hasn’t played very many games in the last four days just because of the weather conditions,” Yokum said on Tuesday. ” So it was kind of an even playing field there”
The Generals return to action will be on a free ticket night at Riverside, an event Yokum hopes will draw a typical-capacity crowd to the park. The first 25 fans at Wednesday’s game to spend $40 or more will also receive a replica 2018 TCL Championship ring.
First pitch for the Generals and Twins is slated for 7 pm.
