Generals’ Offense Explodes Again in 10-4 Victory
The Generals’ offense continued to produce in a big way on Tuesday as they beat the Cane Cutters in Louisiana by a final score of 10-6. Dominic Cox hit his second grand slam in three games as part of another double-digit effort for a Generals team that’s now scored 35 runs since Saturday. Cox went 3-3 to go along with his 4 RBI.
“We have every phase of the game going for us right now,” said infielder Trent Brown of Angelina College, “playing good defense, getting timely hits when we need them and pitching well. That’s always the biggest part of the game.”
Alex Canul got the start for the Generals and gave head coach Michael Oros another solid outing, going 7 innings while giving up three earned and striking out five.
After losing three of their past four games, the Generals entered Tuesday’s contest with just a 6-7 record on the second half of the TCL season. The first-half champs have had no issue scoring but have had some troubles with their pitching staff and bullpen of late.
“We had every chance to win both those games on the road and had a few mistakes late in the games that cost us,” Oros said before the team departed for Lafayette. “But they’re resilient, they’ll bounce back.”
The offense has certainly bounced back, evidenced by the team’s barrage of runs the last three contests.
The Generals will finish up their series with the Cane Cutters on Wednesday before returning home for two games against the Texas Marshals at Riverside. Start time for both of those games is 7:05, with Friday’s contest the final Free Ticket Night of the 2018 season.
