Generals lose 4-3, fall two wins short of title repeat
VICTORIA, Texas — The Generals’ bid to repeat as back-to-back TCL Champions fell two wins short.
The Generals lost to the Texarkana Twins 4-3 in Monday’s winner-take-all game three at Riverside. The Twins took game one at home, 2-1, before the Generals came back to take game two 9-1 on Sunday.
After falling behind 3-0 on Monday, the Generals came back to score runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, but they couldn’t quite catch an upstart Twins team that seemed to get a run whenever they needed one. The Generals left the tying and winning runs on base in the ninth when outfielder Coby Potvin flew out to left to end the game.
The Twins will travel to College Station to take on the Bombers in the TCL Championship Game on Tuesday. This year’s Championship will be a single game, with Brazos Valley holding home field advantage.
