Generals hold youth baseball camp at Riverside
Sunday was an off day for the defending TCL champs, but they still took the field — for a noble cause.
The Generals hosted their 11th annual youth baseball camp at Riverside Sunday evening, hosting young ballplayers ages 7-16 for four hours to work with members of the team. The participants played alongside Generals at different stations based off their respective positions, with over sixty kids signing up for this year’s event.
” I don’t have a little brother or anything but having little kids that look up to you is pretty fun,” said Generals third baseman Jordan Johnson.
The sentiment was echoed by many of his teammates.
“I’m a kid myself,” said relief pitcher Jaydan Martinez. ” And the kids, they teach you more than you teach them. So it’s a lot of fun.”
The clinic took place from 5:30 to 9:30 pm at Riverside. The Generals will be back in action at home on Monday when they open up a two game set against the Texarkana Twins.
