Generals Drub the Twins, 15-2

The Generals returned home on Sunday to open up a two game set against the Texarkana Twins. After dropping consecutive games to the Cane Cutters in Lafayette on Friday and Saturday, Matthew Swick got the ball for the Generals Sunday trying to get his team back on track.

He got plenty of support right out of the gate as the Generals plated two in the first inning and six more in the second to stake Swick to an early 8-0 lead in front of a big home crowd on Faith and Family Night at Riverside. It wouldn’t get any better for the Twins as Mike Williams continued his hot work at the plate with an RBI single before Marshall Skinner and Chase Evans added RBI hits of their own. Dominic Cox would hit a grand slam late in the contest to break it open as the Generals rolled to a resounding 15-2 victory to open up the series.

“I think we know who can do what, and who needs to be where,” head coach Michael Oros said before the game. “We’re right where we need to be going into the playoffs.”

The Generals will wrap up their set against the Twins on Monday at Riverside, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
