Generals Drop 2nd Game vs. Twins, 16-10

A day after the Generals’ offense came alive for 15 runs, the Twins answered with a monster game of their own.

The Twins bested the Generals, 16-10, in the 2nd game of their two-game set from Riverside on Monday. Generals starter and UHV pitcher Jonathan Jimenez failed to record an out in his start, walking the first three batters of the contest as part of a 5-run first inning for the Twins. Jake Woodland came on in relief of Jimenez and ended up tossing 5 innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits.

The early hole proved too big for the Generals to climb out of, as they managed to cut the score to 5-4 before the Twins exploded for four more runs in the 6th and five in the 7th to break the game open. The Generals would add two of their own in the 7th, and two in the 9th.

First baseman Thomas Jeffries had another big game for the Generals, going 3 for 5 with a pair of RBI to increase his summer total to 34. Anthony Jones added three hits of his own and Luis Vargas went 2-4 with an RBI despite getting robbed of an extra-base hit in his first at bat of the game.

The Generals will go back on the road to Louisiana on Tuesday to start another two game series with the Cane Cutters. They will return home on Thursday for four straight home games, with two against the Marshals and two against the Cane Cutters.
