Generals don special uniforms, beat Rougarou
VICTORIA, Texas — The Generals’ return home from a six-game road trip went as well as Michael Oros could have imagined.
Wearing special, camouflage uniforms to benefit the Warrior’s Weekend Organization, the Generals hosted and beat the Baton Rouge Rougarou, 11-3 behind another strong pitching performance from starter Matthew Swick. The win pushed the Generals record on the season to 10-3, just a game behind first-place Brazos Valley with four games against the Bombers coming up next week.
The Generals will wear the same uniforms on Saturday for their free ticket night, then auction them off after the game with all proceeds going to Warrior’s Weekend.
“Wearing the jerseys not only one night but two nights now, and having a free ticket night will hopefully bring the community out,” said head coach Michael Oros. “(We) can bid up those jerseys to go to a good cause.”
The Generals jumped on top early on Friday and didn’t look back. They scored two in the first and added another in the second before exploding for six runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Generals and Rougarou will play the second of the two-game set Saturday evening at 7 pm.
