GenCure, Be the Match Registry call on residents to donate bone marrow

GenCure is asking for residents to become a bone marrow donor by joining the Be the Match registry. Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and will need a bone marrow transplant to survive. 70% of blood cancer patients who need a marrow transplant do not have a matching donor in their family. Anyone age 18 to 44, are willing to donate to any patient in need and meet health guidelines can donate to help. Registering to become a donor is as easy as texting Cure96 to 61474 and could help save someone’s life.

“We encourage the community to sign up. Be the Match has existed for over thirty years. 85,000 transplants later and our goal is to add more people to that registry. To see if they’re a part of someone’s cure. It’s awesome to know, you’re a part of a registry that you can potentially be someone’s cure for cancer.” explained Community Engagement Representative, Leticia Mondragon.

All donors will receive a wellness checkup and a thank-you gift for donating to a life-saving cause.
