Garcia officially signs contract

Pedro Garcia is officially a member of the Cincinnati Reds organization.

The former Generals pitcher passed his physical and signed a minor league contract Tuesday at the team’s offices in Arizona. Garcia will first report to the franchise’s Rookie League affiliate, the Arizona Reds.

Garcia pitched for the Generals in both 2017 and 2018, going 4-1 with a 3.85 ERA over nine starts last season. On Tuesday, he thanked his former TCL, and the people of Victoria, in a conversation over the phone.

“I will say thank you Tracy (Young), the coaching staff for the Generals,” said Garcia. “These people in town in Victoria — I really love Victoria and I know they’ll be proud of myself.”

Before signing, Garcia had been playing this summer for the St. Cloud Rox of Minnesota’s Northwoods League.
