Fugitive Leads Bay City PD Officers on Foot Chase

A Bay City man is behind bars after leading Bay City Police officers on a foot chase.

According to Bay City Police Department, On June 3, 2017, shortly after noon, officers were dispatched to 800 Avenue F in reference to a suspicious male knocking on a door and windows to an apartment.

Upon arrival officers located the male in front of one of the windows to the residence.

The subject later identified as Johnny L. Sanders, 52, from Bay City, gave a false name to the officer who recognized him from a previous call.

The officer knew Sanders had an outstanding warrant and attempted to place him under arrest. Sanders fled on foot and officers chased him until he was caught.

Sanders was arrested and taken to the Matagorda County Jail where he was booked in for Evading Arrest with Prior Convictions, Failure to Identify Fugitive from Justice, and a warrant for Probation Violation.
