Frontage Road Could Get New Traffic Light
Continuing development and new apartments going up near Highway 77 and Mallette Drive have brought more drivers to the area which has caused traffic to become overwhelming.
“It’s pretty bad at times especially early in the morning or around 5 o clock in the afternoon,” Bohac said.
The city is hoping to work with the Texas Department of Transportation to put up a traffic light to replace the stop sign that directs traffic. The new traffic light will be a diamond pattern signal on both sides of the freeway, which Mr. Bohac hopes will free up traffic congestion.
“I think it will probably help it will help us get out of here anyway,” Bohac said.
$65,000 will be paid by the city for engineering and the state will pay $350,000 for construction. Mr. Bohac recalls the days traffic was at a stand still.
“I just had to wait and sit there til the traffic cleared up so I could go,” Bohac said.
This project will go before city council for approval at their next meeting on Tuesday, February 7th.
