Friday H.S. Soccer Roundup

Here are Friday’s high school soccer results from around the Crossroads:

West soccer hosted a pair of district games against Ray at Memorial Stadium. The Warrior girls got the night started with a 3-2 win, with all five goals coming in a back-and-forth first half. Rianna Arguellez found the net twice for the Warriors, while Anacamila Salazar tallied a goal and an assist. Kassandra Persinger had seven saves in net as West stayed unbeaten in district, improving to 3-0-1.

In the second leg, the West boys completed the district sweep with a 4-2 victory. After staking themselves to a 3-0, first half lead the Warriors held on to improve to 2-1-1 in district. Ruben Leon had a hat trick for West, while Eduardo Sanchez added the other goal in the victory.

West boys and girls soccer will continue district play at Memorial Stadium Tuesday night against Miller.

East, meanwhile, played a pair of games at Corpus Christi Moody. The Titan girls stayed unbeaten in district, cruising to a 5-0 victory behind two goals from Kylie Spree-Kolos. The win improves East’s record to 6-4-3 overall, and 3-0-2 in district.

The East boys followed with a shutout win of their own. The Titans beat Moody, 4-0, getting a pair of goals from Omar Perez and one each from Dylan Blough and Jair Sanchez. Xavier Moore earned the shutout in net for the Titans.

In TAPPS soccer, the playoff-bound Lady Flyers wrapped up district play with a wild, overtime win in Corpus. St. Joe snuck past Corpus John Paul, 1-0 on a game winning goal from Lauren Estraca at the 3:46 mark of the first OT period. Brittany Olivares got the assist on the goal, as the Lady Flyers finish in second place in district at 4-2.
