East, West continue district play

Here are Friday’s high school soccer results from around the Crossroads:

The Warriors hosted a district doubleheader against King on a foggy night at Memorial Stadium. The boys played first as they sought to remain in the top half of the district standings, getting two goals from Ruben Leon en route to a big, 4-0 win. Ryan Leon and Luis Rivas added the other two for West as the Warriors improved to 5-3-2 in district on the season.

In the second leg, the girls earned a hard-fought, 3-2 victory. After scoring early, West allowed an equalizer with about 10 minutes to play in the first half, before a Kassandra Persinger goal gave them a 2-1 lead going into the break. The Warriors would go on to win, 3-2, to improve their district mark to 6-2-2 on the year.

West soccer will take on Calhoun at Memorial Stadium next Friday.

East, meanwhile, played a doubleheader against Ray in Corpus. The boys earned a 1-1 draw against the Texans on an Omar Perez goal, assisted by Juan Carlos Perez. With the tie, the Titans move to 6-2-2 in district.

In the girls game, the Titans remained undefeated in district with a 3-0 win. Chloe Spencer scored off an assist by Kirsten Ysaguirre, before Ysaguirre scored on a header just six minutes later to give East a 2-0 halftime lead.
