Warriors host Veterans Memorial, East plays at Carroll

Victoria, TEXAS — Here are Friday’s high school basketball results around the Crossroads:

The Warriors hosted Veterans Memorial for a Saturday doubleheader, with the Eagles sweeping both games. The West girls played in the early game, falling 51-33 despite 12 points from Ashley Giesalhart and 12 from Lizzie Adams. With the loss, the Warriors fell to 4-2 in district and 14-11 overall. They travel to Corpus to play Moody on Tuesday in their next district match-up.

In the late game, the Eagles pulled away from the Warrior boys in the second half of a close game to win 57-47. Omar Posada led the Warriors in the loss with 18 points, while Kevin Rankin chipped in 12. West boys basketball fell to 1-3 in district after the defeat.

On the road in Corpus, East girls basketball fell to 4-2 in district after losing to third-ranked Carroll, 76-67. Zakari Perry led the Titans in scoring in the loss, dropping 19 points, including four three pointers. Brandalyn Rice added 14 points for East.

The East boys followed against the Tigers, losing 70-46 to fall to 1-3 in district play. Ethan White led the Titans with 21 points in the losing effort, while Ed Clay added 12 points for East. The Titans will host King in district action on Tuesday night in the East gym.
