Fresh Produce On It’s Way to Bloomington

The Victoria County Health Department and Bloomington Independent School District have teamed up to bring easy access to fresh produce to the people of Bloomington. They are in the early stages of planting a community garden at at Bloomington Elementary School where citizens and students can plant and pick their own vegetables and fruits instead of driving to a grocery store miles out of town to Victoria or Port Lavaca. There is still no word on the rules or regulations that will set the guidelines for the garden, but it will be a way for the younger generation to learn about healthy eating. The fresh food will be free of charge and school officials hope to begin work on the garden in the spring of 2017.
