Four UHV Soccer Players Earn All-Region Honors

Two Men, Two Women Get Recognition

Four members of the University of Houston-Victoria men’s and women’s soccer teams earned recognition on the 2019 United Soccer Coaches NAIA All-Region teams announced this week.

Senior midfielder Brody Patience (Douglas, Isle of Man)_ and junior defender Connagh Wilks (Egham, England) were named to the All-West Region men’s first team, while sophomore forward Elizabeth Reyes (Edinburgh) and sophomore defender Elizabeth McDonald (New Braunfels) were named to the All-West Region women’s second team.

Patience and Wilks both played key roles in the Jaguars run to a Red River Athletic Conference championship, a 16-1-2 overall record and an appearance in the NAIA National championship Opening Round.

He earned his third straight RRAC first-team all-conference honor and was named the MVP of the RRAC Championships as well as all-tournament. He paced the Jaguars this season with 10 goals, 12 assists, 32 points and five game-winning goals.

Wilks, who was named to the RRAC first team as well as the all-tournament team, helped the Jaguars record 11 shutouts on the season through his leadership on the back line. He also provided some offensive fireworks for the Jaguars as he recorded three goals and two assists for eight points and had one game-winning goal.

Reyes and McDonald helped guide the Jaguars to their second straight RRAC Championship tournament appearance and a 9-7-2 overall record.

Reyes was named to the RRAC second team and led the Jaguars with seven goals, four assists, 18 points and four game-winning goals.

McDonald played a key role in helping the Jaguars record nine shutouts on the season, while also contributing two goals to the offensive attack.
