Former VISD state sports champion to autograph her new book
Alexis Ware and the Victoria High girls won the state basketball title in 1986
VICTORIA, Texas—A Victoria state sports champion is back home for Thanksgiving and for another very special reason.
Alexis Ware was a two-time All-State basketball player at Victoria High, and she helped lead the Stingarettes to the state championship in 1986. After that, Ware was a three-year starter at Texas Tech, then played for ten years with Athletes In Action, getting to play in five foreign countries. Alexis was then with Kids Across America for 14 years as the Director of Christian Sports children’s camps, following that with 11 years with Step Industries in Little Rock as women’s program director. For the past ten years, Ware has run her own non-profit, Lessons For Life. Now she has written her autobiography, “The Coach’s Voice”, and she will autograph the book here tomorrow.
Said Ware, “I’m honored, I’m humbled just to be able to have an opportunity. It’s almost like giving back to my hometown. I came from here. I’m just encouraged and I really can’t believe this is happening. It hadn’t really hit me yet until tomorrow at the actual book signing.”
Alexis Ware will sign her book, “The Coach’s Voice, Listening For The Quiet Voice Of God”, Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Lidia Serrata Law Office, 113 East Constitution Street.
