Weddell Named Brazosport ISD AD

A new job for a former Victoria High football championship coach.
Alan Weddell, named athletic director of the Brazosport Independent School District. This comes six months after coach Weddell was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall Of Honor, Weddell coached Victoria High football from 1982 through ’89. In 1984, the Stingarees were winless. Two years later, they went undefeated in the regular season, won district and made it to the playoffs for the first time. Under coach Weddell, the Stings also made the playoffs in 1988 and ’89. Then he left to go to La Marque, where coach Weddell’s teams won 103 games over eight seasons, made it to the state finals five straight years and won three straight state titles.
