Former Matagorda Deputy who Cyber Stalked child for 5 years arrested by FBI
MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas — The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office made a Facebook post Thursday morning announcing an FBI arrest of a Deputy on a charge of Cyber Stalking.
The Deputy is identified as Pasquale T. Salas who was employed with the county from January 2016 to July 31, 2019, when he was fired from his position.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that Salas did not have any documented issues during his employment with the county, so this arrest comes as a surprise to his former colleagues.
The warrant was issued out of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusets. FBI agents from Texas City and the City of Boston made the arrest and Salas was taken to the Galveston County Jail.
According to court documents from an FBI affidavit, Salas requested sexually explicit photos from a girl in Worcester County after first establishing contact with her through a private chat in the popular videogame Minecraft.
The documents detail a years long relationship with the minor, dating back to 2014 when the girl was 12 years old.
Since 2014, Salas would ask the minor to send pictures of herself without her clothing and touching her private parts.
Salas also sent naked photos of himself and threatened to leak the photos of the minor online if she ended the relationship.
Futhermore, Salas claimed his status as a deputy allowed him to keep tabs on her despite being in another state.
It is also believed that a second minor also sent sexually explicit photos to Salas.
Once the minor attempted to end the relationship with Salas, he began stalking her online, threatening to expose the photos to her friends and family.
Despite the minor’s repeated attempts to end communication, Salas continued texting, calling and reaching out through social media.
Salas used multiple forms of communication, including Snapchat, Skype and Minecraft.
Salas is currently being held at the Galveston County Jail.
