Forensic audit approved for Victoria County finances
An outside CPA will lead a financial audit for Victoria County
VICTORIA, Texas- Victoria County commissioners approved a forensic audit to revisit all expenditures with insurance claim refunds from Hurricane Harvey.
The court agreed to bring in an outside certified public accountant to lead the audit.
The auditor will review financial decisions made by the county.
Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller says, “We need to also be able to demonstrate to the public through an impartial third party firm that no money is missing. So that’s what we are going to do.The activity has largely been done internally, but having the stamp of approval, and the clean bill from an impartial third party firm, I think is what the public deserves.”
The court will take bids to hire a CPA. Judge Zeller says county leaders have implemented many new ideas to better respond to natural disasters.
