Flyers’ Patton commits to play football at Sam Houston State

Senior commits to play OL at Sam Houston State

VICTORIA, Texas — D’Ary Patton is going to Hunstville.

The St. Joe senior committed on Monday to play football at Sam Houston State, where he will join the Bearkats offensive line. The decision continues Patton’s recent family history in the Division I college football ranks, as his brother is currently a three-year starter for Texas State. This winter, Patton is playing as the starting center for St. Joe’s varsity basketball team.

“It’s awesome,” said Patton of the opportunity at shootaround on Tuesday. “You know, I had an older brother that did it, and hopefully I get to go against him a couple times.”

The Bearkats are not currently scheduled to play the Bobcats in the 2020 season, but have played many times over the history of the two programs. Sam Houston State will begin play at home against Tarleton State on Saturday, September 5th.

Patton said his experience in Huntsville just felt right.

“It’s family over there, I love it, and I can’t wait to play,” he said.

Patton and Flyers boys basketball will be back in action on Tuesday when the travel to Brownsville for a game against St. Joseph.
