Fire Destroys Local Business

Early Saturday morning, Victoria resident Bob Badger woke up to the sound of explosions. Outside of his home, he saw a building engulfed in flames.

“I looked out the window and this place was on fire and there was some more explosions.”

The fire was reported Saturday morning around 2:00 a.m. at Diamond Fiberglass at 1036 Industrial Park drive. The company manufactures fiberglass tanks and vessels.Victoria County Fire Marshal Richard Castillo says the extent of the damage is unknown.

“Some of the containers inside erupted. That’s what we were hearing from the loud explosions,” says Castillo.

It took firefighters just over 2 hours to bring the blaze under control.

“The county and state fire marshal’s office will be investigating the cause of the fire. The cause is undetermined at this time,” says Castillo.

Meanwhile Badger says it was a scene he’ll never forget.

“My wife stayed up for another hour and watched the whole thing. She says it was a blazing inferno,” says Badger.

Fire officials say no one was hurt or injured at the time of the fire.
