Federal court rules two Texas Districts unconstitutional
The u-s district court for the western district of Texas ruled this week that two of Texas’s 36 congressional districts were drawn unconstitutionally.
District 35 which encompasses parts of Austin and San Antonio and 27, which is the congressional district for Victoria, must be redrawn before the 2018 election.
The court said in its 107 page ruling that Hispanics in the 27th district were quote:” intentionally deprived of their opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice”.
Attorney General Ken Paxton plans to appeal the ruling to the supreme court.
