Fatal vehicle wreck in Cuero under investigation

38-year-old man dies in crash

CUERO, Texas– Two point five miles south of Cuero on U.S. 87, a male 38-year old, Robert Anthony Ybarbo died in a car wreck. Sgt. Ruben San Miguel of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the wreck happened around 11:25 a.m. Friday. Ybarbo was a passenger in a 2007 Chrysler when it crashed into a semi-trailer as it halted to a stop before turning right into a mechanic shop. DeWitt County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace, Peggy Mayer stated Ybarbo died on the scene.

One other passenger in the vehicle, James Keith Sheffield, was airlifted to a San Antonio Medical Center and is in critical condition, said San Miguel.

Driver of the Chrysler, 43- year old Anthony Lyn Threadgill, was injured and transported to Citizens Medical Hospital, confirmed San Miguel.

The driver of the semi-trailer Joe Morin, 41, had his proper signal lights on and in the correct lane, continued San Miguel. He was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation by the DPS.
