Fallen Dallas Police Officer Jamie Givens Remembered At Funeral
People came together Thursday in Plano, Texas to say goodbye to a fallen officer.
Hundreds of fellow officers joined loved ones of Senior Corporal Jamie Givens for his funeral.
The Dallas motorcycle officer was killed by a suspected drunk driver last weekend.
He was hit while blocking traffic for another officer’s funeral.
Remembrances at the service included the Dallas Police Chief, who recalled givens teasing her to get out on a motorcycle.
Other friends had trouble containing their emotions.
“With God’s help I’ll get through this. We’ve lost a good friend. We’ve lost a brother,” Retired Dept. of Treasury Special Agent, Don Parkhurst said.
Givens was a 32-year member of the Dallas Force.
He will be buried Friday in his home state of Oklahoma.
Authorities say the suspect accused in givens’ death had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
He’s charged with intoxication manslaughter.
