VICTORIA,Texas– Faith Academy has qualified for the TAPPS 2a track and field state meet.

Jaylen Dorset came in fourth in the high jump and Hannah Bazar got second in the 100 meter dash. Kamilah Stafford got third in the 100 meter dash and first in the 200 meter dash. Team relay came in third place.

Faith Academy athletic director, Gil Gonzalez is so proud of his team.

“I’ve had this group since eight grade, these seniors. We implemented track for junior high and eight grade when I first got here, and to see it grow the way it has and to see them finish off their senior year the way it should be, just makes it all worth it,” said Gonzalez.

Senior Hannah Bazar is participating in three events in the state meet. This will be her first time going to state and she hopes to place in the top three in all the events.

“I’m most excited for my 4 by 1 relay. My team is just really been pulling together this year and I’m really excited to place for that. It’s really a blessing to have coach Gil here with us. He’s always been there through thick and thin and he’s never left and I’m just blessed to have in my life,” said Bazar

Faith Academy will join the other TAPPS 2a schools for the state meet beginning Friday with field events and continues on to Saturday at Midway High School in Waco.
