Faith Academy Hoops Stars Sign With Colleges

Three of Faith Academy’s top basketball players from last season, signing Tuesday night with colleges.
April Chapa signs with Schreiner..Chapa averaged 23 points a game and made first team All-District while leading the Lady Cougars to the playoffs. She also shot 30% on three’s and 85% in free throws in her one season with the Lady Cougars. Tanner Moore signs with Central Baptist in Conway, Arkansas. Moore averaged 12 points and 15 rebounds a game, made 78% of his free throws, was team MVP and made first team All-District. He also made the National Christian Honor Society and was student council class representative. Jonathan Boehm, signing with Victoria College. Boehm averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists a game, making 40% of his three’s, 86% of his free throwsmade a school record 157 three’s, and made first team All-District and All-State honorable mention.. I asked these three why they picked their respective colleges. Said Moore, “I went and I tried out at their school in Arkansas, and I really liked the campus. I liked the environment, it felt like a family. Coming from Faith, a small school, and then going to another small school it’s just a nice transition. I’m really looking forward to it.” Said Boehm, “I wanted to stay close to home for one year, get comfortable with college, get good grades, so I can move off and do bigger and better things.” Said Chapa, “I looked into their academics and everything and I actually liked how it is. And I went to go visit their campus and it was a pretty nice school.”

ATLANTA (AP) – Elena Delle Donne had 28 points and 16 rebounds to help the Washington Mystics snap the Atlanta Dreams’ franchise-record eight-game winning streak with an 86-71 victory on Tuesday night.

It was Atlanta’s first loss since falling to Seattle 95-86 on July 6.

Washington started the second half scoring 12 of the first 18 points, capped by Delle Donne ‘s reverse layup, to build a 62-49 lead. The Mystics cruised in the fourth, outscoring Atlanta 16-8, as the Dream were just 3 of 13 from the field in the final 10 minutes.

LaToya Sanders added 13 points and Aerial Powers had 10 for Washington (15-11). Natasha Cloud made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points before fouling out with 3:17 remaining.

Tiffany Hayes scored 18 points for Atlanta (16-10). Elizabeth Williams had 13 points and nine rebounds and Angel McCoughtry added 12 points. The Dream was just 3 of 22 from 3-point range and shot 36.1 percent overall.
