Faith Academy Boys Basketball’s Big Friday Night

Cougars To Get District Championship Trophy

Big Friday night for Faith Academy boys basketball.

For starters, it’s Seniors Night for the Cougars’ last home district game of the season. At the end of the game, the Faith boys will get their district championship trophy. They clinched that last Saturday with a win at Shiner St. Paul. After winning their first district title in a decade, the Cougars, the number six team in the TABC state private school 2A poll, can have their first undefeated district season in 16 years with a win tonight. I asked two Cougars how big tonight is for their team.

Said forward/center James Ortiz, “It’s really exciting. We’ve taken a long time to get here. All four years we haven’t made it this far. ”

Said center Luke Sevier, “It’s really amazing. We’ve put in a lot of work for this all year. It’s really nice to finally see our progress showing, getting an award for it, and just being able to have something to remember. ”

Faith Academy boys basketball hosts St. Gerard tonight at 7:30 at the NextGen Gym.
