Faith Academy Boys Basketball Reaches Regional Round

Cougars Ranked Fourth In State

Faith Academy boys basketball has accomplished a lot this season.

The Cougars just finished their first undefeated run to a district championship in 16 years. They are ranked fourth in the Texas Association Of Basketball Coaches state private school 2A poll, and with their win Tuesday night over St. Gerard, they are Area champions. Now the Faith Academy boys are one win away from their first trip to state in 14 years. I talked with two Cougars about winning the area playoff.

Said point guard Evan Tijerina, “It’s very exciting. We haven’t won a playoff game since I’ve been here. Freshman year we made it to the playoffs but lost in the first round. It was very exciting, especially considering we beat a team that we have such a beef with, which I’m glad it got squashed. ”

Said post Luke Sevier, “It meant a lot to us. It was really good to not let history repeat itself like it did last year with us losing to them a third time. We were able to pull it out this time.”

Both Faith Academy basketball teams will play in the TAPPS 2A Regionals Saturday at the same gym in Fayetteville.
The fourth ranked Faith Academy boys play at noon against the number one team in the TABC state 2A private school poll, Huntsville Alpha Omega.
The seventh ranked Lady Cougars have the game after that.
The Faith girls face Bryan St. Joseph at 2:00.
