Fair to Partly Cloudy Skies with Extreme Heat and Humidity this Afternoon

Mostly Clear Overnight but Still Humid

Searing heat and dangerous humidity continue to oppress the Crossroads late today under the dominance of upper level high pressure, but that dominance is about to take a brief hiatus. As upper level ridging shifts to the west, a weak disturbance allows a mid summer cold front to ease into the region late Wednesday. Expect isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms late Wednesday to persist Wednesday night, then become scattered on Thursday before ending Friday. Temperatures will remain above normal, however, with highs in the upper 90s to lower 100s. Lows should remain in the middle to upper 70s. After Friday, no additional rainfall is expected through early next week. Meanwhile, the tropical Atlantic Basin remains devoid of significant activity.
